The 13th Annual Afro Roots World Music Festival
(#AfroRootsWorldMusicFestival > #ARWMF)

Celebrating 13 years of serving Miami Dade County(#MDC) with quality programs, this festival has become the longest running event for our organization. It has been noted by some as the longest running world music festival (#WorldMusicFestival) in #Miami. The festival has been able to expand its reach beyond local South Florida artists by bringing in performers from African countries such as Senegal, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali, and the Republic of Congo. This global connection through music has helped the festival evolve into one of Miami’s most culturally diverse events. The festival has added various satellite events to its roster including, a lecture/panel in collaboration with area schools and universities (TBA), a Rumba concert with Afro Cuban group Los Herederos on Thursday, April 14th at Hoy Como Ayer $7.00 at the door( 2212 SW 8th St.), and the Festival of the Drum which is the kickoff celebration to the main event On Friday April 15th at Transit Lounge (729 SW 1st Ave). Furthermore, we continue to produce our interactive kids program “Let the children have music and dance.”
This years line up will feature Jahfe, Locos por Juana, the Spam All Stars, and for the first time in the festivals history, Haitian roots group Boukman Esperyans. This will be an all-ages event on April 16 beginning at 4pm and ending at 10:30pm. Ticket prices will range from $10 presale general admission to $15 at the door. Tickets for Children twelve and under will be $5, students with valid ID, and seniors over 65 get a reduced rate of $10 at the door only.
